There is a significant showdown in the Big Ten on tap. No. 17 Michigan and No. 21 Minnesota will meet for the 104th time.
The Little Brown Jug is at stake, but it's also an early indicator on where these teams stand coming out of the delayed start. The Wolverines are breaking in quarterback Joe Milton on the road. The Golden Gophers counter with quarterback Tanner Morgan and receiver Rashad Batemen, one of the top passing combinations in the country.
Elsewhere, No. 10 Cincinnati travels to No. 16 SMU in a matchup of the remaining two unbeatens in the American Athletic. The victor becomes the favorite to win the Group of Five spot in the New Year's Six and could find itself in the College Football Playoff race.
In the ACC, No. 13 North Carolina tries to bounce back from its loss to Florida State when it hosts No. 22 North Carolina State. The rivalry will see one team move forward in in the conference while also gaining bragging rights for the next year.

The penultimate weekend in college football typical provides dramatic conclusion ahead of the final Saturday as places in conference championship games are solidified and potential drama ensues during the College Football Playoff race.
But like everything in 2020, this year is very different. Just four teams in the top 10 are in action. ACC championship game participants Notre Dame and Clemson taking the week off due scheduling considerations due to COVID-19. Playoff contenders Ohio State, Texas A&M and Cincinnati had their games canceled or postponed.
That leaves a slimmed down schedule that has some intrigue, but not the usual high-end implications.
No. 8 Miami and No. 20 North Carolina meet with a spot in the New Year's Six as a potential prize. The winner will likely finish as the third-highest ACC team in the playoff committee rankings. That would mean a place in the Orange Bowl should both Notre Dame and Clemson make the playoff field.

The other matchup of ranked opponents has No. 18 Iowa hosting No. 25 Wisconsin. The Hawkeyes could work their way into New Year's Six consideration with a win and possible crossover game against Indiana on Dec. 19. The Badgers are hoping end a two-game losing streak that has coincided with their offense producing just 13 points.
There are some other interesting games across the country. No. 15 Southern California hopes to lock up the Pac-12 South title, but first must get through rival UCLA. No. 10 Georgia faces a difficult trip to Missouri, which has won five of its last six games.

Just one more day until the Texas Longhorns and Colorado Buffaloes renew their conference rivalry on the football field, even if it is just for one game. Texas has been the favorite as far as the betting outlets have been concerned.
The expert picks have been released, a majority being that the Texas Longhorns should win this game. Texas is looking for its fourth straight bowl victory under Tom Herman. The Longhorns have owned the series with Colorado of late, they are looking for their sixth consecutive win overall and they lead the series 11-7 in 18 meetings.
The staff at USA TODAY Sports laid out its predictions for the bowl games. The Alamo Bowl with Texas and the Texas Bowl with Texas Christian seemed to be the only Big 12 bowl game they seem to favor the Big 12 teams.

The longest, weirdest and unexpected college football season is finally coming to a close.
The bowl season originally was expected to be 43 games. Due to COVID-19 cancellations, it was shortened to just 28.
After 16 weeks, the College Football Playoff field emerged, with Alabama and Notre Dame heading to the Rose Bowl, which has been moved to Arlington, Texas due to COVID-19 considerations, and Clemson and Ohio State facing off in the Sugar Bowl.
The Crimson Tide and Fighting Irish meet for the first time since the BCS championship game after the 2012 season. This will be the third semifinal matchup between the Tigers and Buckeyes in the last five years. The former has won the previous two showdowns.

There's other interesting matchups with unbeaten Cincinnati getting an opportunity to face traditional power Georgia in the Peach Bowl. Oklahoma and Florida will square off in what should be a high-scoring Cotton Bowl.
Outside the New Year's Six, a couple of Big Ten-SEC clashes are worth watching as Northwestern faces off with Auburn in the Citrus Bowl and Mississippi challenges Indiana in the Outback Bowl.
